Why Afterpay doesn't work for crypto
Afterpay's model is merchant-based. You see the Afterpay button at checkout on stores that integrate it, and the Afterpay Card in Apple Wallet is activated per purchase for in-store shopping at participating retailers. There's no general-purpose Afterpay Visa you can tap anywhere, and crypto exchanges aren't in Afterpay's merchant network.
Since Block merged Afterpay into Cash App, you can use Afterpay for Cash App Pay purchases at eligible merchants. Cash App itself sells Bitcoin, but that's a direct purchase with your Cash App balance, not an Afterpay installment plan. Searches for "buy crypto with Cash App Afterpay" end up in the same place: there's no installment path.
What works instead: Klarna and Affirm
Both Klarna and Affirm issue a real Visa card you can add to Apple Wallet and use anywhere Visa is accepted. FOMO accepts Apple Pay deposits from any card in your Wallet. That gives you a buy-now-pay-later path to crypto that Afterpay can't:
